Essential Oils and Aromatherapy

What are essential oils?

Where do they come from?

What are they used for?

Why use essential oils?

Lets explore these oils and how we can use
them to benefit our body and mind.
What is aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is the art and science of using essential plant oils for gentle holistic treatments which do not use toxic or invasive remedies to aid in the natural healing process of the body.
What are the benefits to me?
Many people believe Essential Oils are a safe useful alternative to store bought medicines and when used in conjunction with other medical treatments can have beneficial effects. They also have valid uses as mood creators, for beauty therapy, as perfumes, room fragrancers, and can be used to clean your home and keep it free of bacteria. Essential Oils have been used as remedies for many years for common ailments such as colds and flu, as well as for the relief of muscle pain, arthritis, menstrual cramps, high blood pressure and many similar conditions. Many oils have the ability to sharpen the mind, lift depression, calm hyperactivity, are often used in pharmaceuticals and greatly used in the sensual arts.
How long have oils been used for medications?
Aromatherapy is not a new science; evidence of the use of essential oils in the treatment of medical disorders has been found dating back thousands of years, and was an important part of Ancient Chinese and Egyptian Healing's.
Why is it important to buy pure essential oils?

Anything that is being used on the body should be pure and it is always best if it does not contain chemicals. Many companies are selling perfumed oils and calling them "aromatherapy oils", but unless they are 100% pure essential oils, there will be little or no therapeutic value from them.
Why is there such a difference in the prices of the oils?

Each individual plant yields a different percentage of oil. Some plants are more difficult to grow than others; they are grown all over the world, and harvesting requirements differ.
